It is essential that all groups promote their activities to ensure that their profile is made visible to potential members. By advertising your events you raise your profile in the community. If you do not put yourself “out there” you are invisible to the public eye and are not giving your group a fair chance at survival. Some groups have too many members, most do not.
The RHSV offers several ways for you to promote your activities.
- The What’s On page on the RHSV web site is provided as an avenue via which our Affiliate groups can promote their events. It is a free service. You only need to contact the Secretary with your event details and they will be placed there. The What’s On page is rapidly becoming the best place to find out what is happening in the Gardening World.
- Leaflets can be included in the RHSV quarterly magazine, the Gardeners Gazette. The magazine reaches most Victorian groups, many individual members and other groups throughout Australia. Potentially it reaches 30,000+ gardeners. To cover the cost of packing the leaflet in the magazine a charge of $50 applies. We require 1300 leaflets of A4 - A5 size. These must be supplied at your cost to the Secretary by a specific deadline. Remember, the better quality leaflet the greater the impact and hence a better result. - Advertising space is available in the GARDENERS' GAZETTE at very economic rates. For a small outlay your event can be given greater exposure and not get lost amongst other similar events. Contact the Secretary for more details.
- The RHSV has significant presence at high profile gardening events. Member groups can also publicise their activities at these events. Many thousands of people attend these events and they therefore provide prime opportunities for promotion. The RHSV is also involved in other events that may provide promotional opportunities.
