Details: Inverawe Native Gardens is a 9.5 ha garden that sweeps around the shore of North West Bay, on the Channel Highway at Margate, 15 minutes south of Hobart, Tasmania. The garden enjoys outstanding views south east to Bruny Island, and north west to Mount Wellington. Over 12,000 native plants from all over southern Australia are featured. Kilometres of graded and gravelled paths allow easy access. Plants are labelled for identification and sculpture and poetry make this a rounded experience. In 17 years the owners and creators of this garden, Margaret and Bill Chestnut have moved acres of woody weeds and rubbish to create a premier landscaped garden.
