Details: Visit one of Victoria’s youngest botanic gardens which is being developed by volunteers.  There is remnant vegetation including magnificent old River Red Gums, Yellow Box and Grey Box.  See plants that tolerate a dry climate and low water conditions.  A feature of the garden is the Dryland Eucalyptus Arboretum with more than 100 species of Eucalypt and many other native plant species as understorey.  Indigenous plantings, including creek and lake rehabilitation, Indigenous grassland, Koori Student Garden designed by Koori students from Melton, Victorian Volcanic Plains Aboriginal Plant Usage Garden, Indigenous Peoples Garden.  A Sensory Garden is located near the Plant Nursery. Some standout gardens include the West Australian, South Australian, Southern African Garden, Mediterranean, Californian, Central and South American and a Bushfoods Garden.   The large lake attracts water birds with a 1km Lake Walk. Free electric BBQs and public toilets are near the main lake.  Nursery plant sales are on Tues, Thurs, 2nd and 4th Sundays 10am-1pm.  Nursery will open for booked guided tours.  Plant Nursery and Depot located at 21 Williams Street, Melton (north end of the garden).
